Our Team

Meirion has had a lifelong passion for the natural world, breeding and bloodlines have always been of interest, especially of horses and ponies and more specifically Welsh Ponies. Having grown up in North Wales, these special ponies were very much part of the culture. He first started breeding in the 70's as a teenager after buying his first brood mare from his uncle. With over 45 years’ experience he has a real feel and understanding of what it takes to produce quality ponies.
At the age of 17 Meirion left Wales to go traveling. In the USA he worked with Mustangs on a ranch in Wyoming, with Polo Ponies for the Busch Family in St. Louis and also spent time working at their stud farm with the famous Budweiser Clydesdales. In Switzerland Meirion has worked as a traveling groom on a Show Jumping Yard where he spent time working with Jerome Doubledam (Olympic gold medallist, Sidney 2000) and Christina Liebher (Olympic silver medallist, Athens 2008).
On returning to the U.K he decided to pick up where he left off and restarted his breeding program, Machno Stud, named after the beautiful Machno valley he grew up in. Using the knowledge acquired from his experiences over the years, Meirion set about producing top quality competition ponies that have gone on to have success in Show jumping, Eventing and Dressage around the world.
